The OCAFC SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose:
* Encourages children of OCAFC members to be involved in the community;
* Encourages these youths to be inquisitive about the world around them;
* Motivates them to keep abreast of current events;
* Inspires them to be leaders in their field of study or in an extracurricular activity
Awards:
OCAFC sets aside $500 annually for this scholarship. Maximum per allocation is $150, meaning that if five applicants were
selected, each gets $100. If one is selected, he/she gets the $150 maximum. Maximum 5 Junior or Senior High School students
will be selected for scholarship.
Requirements:
* Children of current OCAFC member;
* Junior or senior in high school (prior scholarship recipient is not eligible to apply);
* Grade point average of B or above;
* Completed application form (see below);
* Proven leadership quality, i.e. title holder of a sport;
* Submission of a two-page, double-spaced essay of the topic:
1) "As we approach the anniversary of 9/11, what lessons have we learned and how can we as Asian-Americans contribute
to the healing of our nation?"
2) "Which of the OCA's primary objectives that you value most? Why?" (OCA objectives listed in OCA website: www.ocanatl.org)
Deadline
All documents must be postmarked by August 31.
